My Favorite Show

People have asked me what my favorite show was. Having performed the Elvis Tribute over a thousand times, it’s really hard to pick just one.

My very first tribute show was a backyard party and then I got my feet wet performing at Elementary Schools. Then it was on to dozens of sold-out shows at the legendary Ice House nightclub. There were so many public events like concerts in the park, 7000 people at Lake Mission Viejo or 10,000 for 4th of July in Eagle Rock. There were memorable shows for foreign royalty and celebrities.

I do greatly enjoy performing at family birthday and anniversary parties. I’ve gotten to know the people and modified the Elvis tribute show to make it also a tribute to the honored guest, weaving in bits of information about the honoree, often humorous or touching to make it most meaningful for all in attendance.

With all that said, I will mention one memorable show. I performed at the Airforce Village Retirement Home, next to March Airforce Base. A nurse wheeled in a veteran from the Alzheimer’s ward. The man’s family was there. I was told this man had not been able to speak any intelligible words for over a year. Yet when I started singing, he stood up and started singing along, knowing the lyrics to songs that at some time in his life were very familiar. The family was thrilled and so was I.

It has been experiences like these and so many more they keep me doing what I do.
